How to clean and be green!

Started your Spring Cleaning yet? For those of you who still need a little inspiration to get going check out ‘Let the Spring Cleaning begin!’ and later articles for how to get going on what can seem like a very large job! However, it isn’t as simple as tidying and cleaning up as usual anymore, many people now are conscious of being as green as possible, so here are a couple of tips and products that will help.

Pet Hair Remover Sticky Roller BrushObviously vacuum cleaning is a job that can’t be completely skipped, but instead of using it every day why not use some of your own power to get smaller areas clean and for in between days? In many cases this can be easier than getting out the hoover and more effective.

Hand held manual Carpet Cleaners and Roller Brushes are great for these occasions. This is especially true if you’re trying to keep up with removing pet hairs. The Orange CarPET Cleaner is a really useful brush for doing just that – it effectively removes pet hairs from rugs and carpets (I use it frequently on a rug which is favoured by my dog and it is more effective than using the hoover!)

Roller Brushes are equally useful, not only for removing hairs from clothes/carpets but also for harder to clean areas such as sofa upholstery, curtains and when using the paper wrapped around your hand cleans areas a vacuum cleaner never can!

Ok, so you want to reduce the chemicals you use, but you also want to save money. Why not switch your fabric conditioner for the super effective and cheaper Dryer Balls, providing a re-usable, safe, non-toxic & environmentally friendly way to soften your laundry without using chemicals or fabric conditioners. Using fabric softeners and drying sheets can sometimes cause unwanted allergies, but the pink & blue "Tumble Dryer Balls" soften fabrics the natural way. Dryer Balls

They save you money because they are re-usable and they reduce drying time.  All you need to do is place both balls in the tumble dryer on the usual setting. As well as retaining heat, the balls lift washing and increase circulation of air within the machine.  The specially designed nodes physically break down hardness in fabrics created by water when drying, leaving your clothes beautifully soft.

These clever Dryer Balls even reduce the amount of lint (waste fluff) as well as creases and wrinkles - saving you time at the ironing board! And they are anti-static too. They really are an amazing environmentally friendly alternative to fabric softener and dryer sheets.

Want to do some cleaning but don’t want the chemicals? Check out these Gonzo Cleaning Sponges which can be used over and over again! The range includes sponges for removing pet hairs, cleaning the dashboards & upholstery in your car, your Lampshades, Ceiling Fans, Venetian Blinds, Curtains, Computer Screens, Books and more!Gonzo Wine Out Spray

Similarly the E-Cloth Kitchen Pack provides chemical free cleaning for all hard surfaces. Brilliant on stainless steel worktops, glass, chrome, granite & wood.  Perfect cleaning with just water. They save time, save money and are kind to your family and the environment.

Need an emergency heavy duty stain remover? The Gonzo range of red wine, pet and multi stain removers are environmentally safe, don’t smell and are non-toxic…. plus they really work!

A Nation of Pet Lovers

A couple of days ago I got some great advice from Collienet's Margaret, who gave me some top grooming tips and dog show information… I now have a house with fewer dog hairs and a lovely smell!

Pet Hair Remover Sticky Roller BrushBeing the home of the Sticky Roller Brush we are naturally interested in all things relating to pets and as a nation of pet lovers I thought many of you may be interested in a programme coming soon to Sky 1 called ‘Pet Nation’. Starting on Friday 26th March at 8pm this brand new programme is a ten part series celebrating our love of our pets. Liza Tarbuck and Huey Morgan are the hosts exploring the many aspects of owning a pet – looking into alternative therapies for your pets, gadgets, home videos, cooking for cats and dogs(!) and stories from around the world. We’re hoping to get more tips on how to care for our pets (and cope with their hairs!) But continuing with our pet theme (and as I’ve recently been grooming my dog more frequently since Margaret’s tips on grooming!), here’s a run down on how to brush a dog!

For small dogs you can use a grooming table, but larger dogs should be groomed on the floor. Ideally start working on one side at a time and in small sections brush against the growth direction – you can prevent matting by parting the hair down to the skin. When both sides have been brushed, finish by working from head to tail in the direction of the hair growth this time. Using a soft-bristled brush at the end will help to distribute the oils to their hairs.

Super Groomer BrushIf like myself you have a dog that is particularly prone to matting you may need to consult a professional groomer (I find that if my dog gets quite matted I have to book a professional groom to get him back to a stage where I can continue my ‘daily’ grooming!) Finishing with a grooming spray will keep the coat nicely conditioned and less prone to matting – and as mentioned in my previous article you can get sprays that smell of Baby Powder too!

For a great little hardworking and gentle brush check out the BRAND NEW Supa Groomer – Essential Gentle Grooming Brush. Not only does it gently groom light dust & hairs from dogs and horses, it can also be used to remove animal hairs from upholstery & carpets. It’s easily cleaned & hardwearing!

Inside Advice from a Doggie Expert!

Being the first day of Crufts I thought I’d share with you some inside advice about which are the best shows to go to and tips on the best way to groom and wash your dog (and my crazy but very loving Border Collie). Well who better to go to than top collie breeder Margaret from the Collienet resource? Having fallen in love with ‘Lassie’ from an early age she became involved with showing in the late 80s and she hasn’t looked back since! Her many successes have included Bhyllsacre Troubador, Layfette Shades of Delight, Sweet Tiffin, Pa Solsidan, Perryswood Blue Chrystal and Chantique Simply Smashing. So myself being a complete novice I asked Margaret which she thought were the best shows for me to go to and whether it was worth going along to Crufts... she told me that Crufts is great, and for someone like myself the Discover Dogs section is particularly interesting – it’s the place to be if you are trying to choose a dog and for the children to get to know the many different breeds. However the car parking can be challenging so only go if you are prepared to put up with the busy car park! Discover Dogs at Crufts

However she advised me that Dog Shows that are done in conjunction with Agricultural Shows are brilliant for families because they don’t restrict the children to seeing just the dogs. This year I’m now thinking of going to the Tatton Park Fun Dog Show, Just Dogs Live and the Okehampton & District Agricultural Show – (I’ll keep you posted!)

For general dog hair removal Margaret has some suggestions, like myself she uses Caraselle’s Pet Hair Rollers to clean up in between hoovering (see my previous blog on the many uses of the Mighty Lint Remover).  She recommends getting a specialist vacuum cleaner best suited for pet owners to minimise the bulk of hair and grooming for at least 10 minutes a day ideally – I’m guilty of missing this step sometimes, like many others I’m sure!

Pet Hair Remover Sticky Roller BrushSurprisingly she pointed out that short-haired dogs could create even more problems when removing hairs than long-haired dogs. Whilst my border collie produces a mass of hairs all over the wooden floor and upholstery, short haired breeds have much coarser hair which sticks in fibers and makes it harder to remove… so don’t be fooled into thinking that having a dog with short hairs means you won’t have to remove hairs in your home!

Margaret suggested brushing them when sitting watching telly at night… makes you more likely to do it! (you could get rid of hairs from your sofa with a lint roller at the same time!) Whilst you may want the undercoat when you are showing dogs, the best way to remove it is to groom frequently… apparently on certain breeds the easiest removal is when you can see it lifting from the skin slightly because it comes away more easily then. The most common cause of dog hair loss is seasonal change, but I was surprised that she mentioned that hair loss is also affected by their food – so if you change their food you may notice a change in their hair loss.

I wanted to find out from Margaret whether I should be bathing my dog more frequently and what the benefits are. She’s not a great believer in bathing dogs too frequently because it makes their hair less water tight… but if you do wash your dogs try to let them dry naturally which is better because the heat from the hair dryer will make them loose oils – in a similar way that it does for us of course! Naturally as Margaret points out, the frequency a dog will need a wash will depend on the breed of dog (length of hair) and what they are doing in between washes! She told me that you can get some lovely grooming shampoos and sprays, so that with a light spray over the coat your dog can have a tangle free, conditioned and shiny coat… you can even get one which smells of Baby Powder, and Margaret can vouch that it will give your house that lovely Baby Powder smell!

So a house with fewer dog hairs and a lovely smell… thanks Margaret! Check out our wide range of Pet Hair Removers and keep an eye out for an article next when I’ll interview Jonathan B about some great new products coming soon!

What do YOU say about our Sticky Roller Brush?

Pet Hair Roller BrushRecently I told you the many reasons why our Pet Hair Removers are so popular and the importance of the handle on the Best Selling Pet Hair Sticky Roller Brush “It’s all in the handle”.

However, you would probably prefer to hear why we are the home of the Sticky Roller Brush from people like yourselves.

So here’s what you are saying:
"No matter what pet you have, if it roams around the house it will leave hairs. I have used this product for years on clothes and soft furnishings. It is so easy to use and effective for removing pet hairs, great value for money. A five star buy."

"I have bought a number of different pet hair removers in the past and at long last this one is the best where the handle stays firmly attached to the roller without the roller flying off the handle as has happened to me in the past, so I will recommend this product 100%."

"Refill for Brush - Absolutely wonderful"

"Fantastic product. I have 2 cats which seem to shed incessantly. I have used rollers from Ikea and Asda (Korbond). Yours is far superior in terms of the length of time the stickiness lasts, and how much fur is picked up. These sticky rollers work great at removing my cats' loose fur.  P.S. And the 20 refill and a free loaded roller handle is excellent value for money."

"An excellent product, I've been using them for ages purchased through my local dry cleaners but now I buy them direct which is much better as I get the quantity I want at a better price and its direct which I prefer. Fast and efficient service, items arrived well packaged and are perfect for getting fluff and pet hair off your clothing or anything else for that matter!!"

If you spend more than £25.00 (excl. p&p) we will send you a FREE 7.5 metre Sticky Roller Brush worth £4.50* so you can see for yourself why people are talking about this product!

The Lint Remover Challenge continues!…

Continuing on from our Challenge last week (The Lint Remover Challenge), here are some more uses for the Mighty Lint Remover – keep sending in your tips and uses so we can pass them on to other customers!

>> It doesn’t need to be restricted to the house for cleaning fabrics/upholstery… people spend so long cleaning their house that the car becomes neglected, partly because hoovering it seems like too onerous a task! Lint Rollers are ideal for picking up the debris, dust and hairs from the seats and foot well.

>>Staying in the car, use it on the dashboard and glove box too – you don’t need to restrict it to the handle, wrap some paper around your hand to get to the ‘impossible to get to’ areas. I do exactly this when cleaning my son’s high chair!

>>In the same way as cleaning mud dropped from wellies when going out, it’s great at cleaning the area where shoes are stored

>>Great at removing very small particles – it’s especially useful when you have dropped something that can be dangerous to pets and small children especially – such as glass. Notoriously difficult to clean up because of the tiny particles that you obviously can’t see… if you use your lint roller over the floor it will pick up the really small pieces that you don’t even notice are there

>>Having a good clean out of your cupboards and drawers? The trick of tearing off some of the paper and using it wrapped around your fingers to get into the edges and corners works wonders here… leaving your drawers brilliantly clean and ready for your nicely ordered items!

>>In a similar fashion use it to clean your handbag and purse – one of the most therapeutic tasks for some women is emptying and tidying out their bags… well now you can get it nice and clean before refilling!

Keep the tips coming! More to follow soon….

The Lint Remover Challenge!

There are many, many uses to the hard working Lint Remover, but our customers often tell us stories about how they have found multi uses for many of our products themselves… how resourceful you all are!

Carpet CleanerWe would love to hear your own stories of how you make use of your lint remover, whether a Regular/Trident Handled Pet Hair Remover, Mini Pocket Sized Roller Brush or Carpet Cleaner… we are always interested to hear your tips too and that way other customers can benefit from your wisdom! So we challenge you to tell us a use for the Mighty Lint Remover that we haven’t heard yet! But in the meantime here are just a few uses to get you on your way…Pet Hair Roller Brush

  • You don’t really need to be told this one! But just to clarify Pet Hair Rollers are brilliant at removing your pet's hair (and your own hair) from clothes. The super sticky paper quickly removes any hairs or other debris from your clothing that you often only see in daylight, which is inevitably when rushing out of the door!

  • Make it one of the steps you follow when doing your washing/drying. I have certain clothes which are particularly prone to picking up fluff once they have come out of the wash, so I quickly roll over such clothing when dry but before folding... that way they look like new BEFORE I want to wear them!

  • Most people find it hard to make time to hoover each day – and who wants to?!... but there are many people like myself that have young children and a dog (or equally bad a cat!) who find they do some cleaning one day and by the following day the carpet looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for a week! Obviously with little time to clean again, this is where my Pet Hair Roller really shows its worth… great for use in between hoovering.

  • I’ve been using it recently to clean up bits of mud left on the floor when I take my shoes and wellies off – and when I put them on especially, because it’s then the dried on mud drops to the floor. Not really being in the position to get the hoover out (I’m usually rushing out with my dog), I give the area a quick once over with the roller so I don’t have to deal with it when I get back!

  • The same applies to the boot of the car – once you’ve had various packages, shopping, dirty push chair, shoes for walks and so on in there it starts to look pretty bad, but a Lint Roller will soon get rid of the debris ready for the next round! (Especially useful here when wrapped around your fingers to get into all the grooves and sides on the upholstery.)

Keep an eye out for more Lint Roller tips, and don’t forget to tell us yours!

Need to remove hairs quickly? Pet Hair Roller Options…

I’ve already mentioned in previous articles the benefits of making sure you get a Pet Hair Roller Lint Remover with a removable handle… and the equally important refill quality when you do replace it, but what about other options, such as the Trident Handle Roller Brush. Like the Sticky Roller Brush, the benefit of this is the ease of use – especially with a trident handle. Again the handle is removable so you will only need to replace the refills, which provide 5 metres of highly sticky peelable paper.

If you are looking for something to keep in your handbag or for use when traveling the Mini Pocket Sized Roller Brushes are ideal. Not only great to keep when on the move, but ideal to use in a caravan, especially when traveling with pets and to keep your clothes pet hair free! They are great at keeping a small space clean. A hand-held carpet cleaner is incredibly effective at removing hairs and dust from rugs or carpets and again ideal to take away with you on trips - being so small means you don’t need to worry about losing much space!

Keep an eye out for my future article about the many uses of Lint Removers… they’re not just for hairs!

Refilling your Pet Hair Roller Brush

You may remember in a previous article I mentioned why the handle of a Lint Roller is so important… owning a roller with a removable handle provides the ability to use refills to keep future costs down, but this is not much use if the refills themselves aren’t up to scratch. So equally important is the quality of the refill itself.

You may think all refills are the same, but in fact the peeling of the adhesive sheets varies and it does make a big difference when you want to quickly peel away the sheet for a fresh layer. Good quality refills mean you can easily peel the sheet down to the next layer.

Our Pet Roller Refills are of a very high quality, manufactured to our specification. Many refills have about 4 metres of paper, but ours are long, long lasting with 7.5 metres – that’s about 25 ft!! of very adhesive paper.

You can save up to 50% when you take advantage of our multipack discounts too!

Lint Rollers – want quality and value for money? It’s all in the handle…

Most pet owners know about the benefits of having a good quality Pet Hair Remover Product – there are many to choose from, but one of the main priorities for most people is how quick and easy it is to use… that’s because when people use them it’s often as they are rushing out of the door and only then notice in the light that they are covered in their pet’s hairs! (Actually, many realise they are also covered in their own hairs usually, but don’t have a product such as a lint roller to hand.) This is where the quality of the roller comes in, because if you go with a very cheap one there’s usually no rolling element in the handle at all, which means you do all the hard work! However, if you have a good quality roller the handle will include a spindle which does the rolling for you - it rolls while you hold the handle, and the result is a smooth, quick and very easy rolling action.

After quality the next consideration will be how economical they are. Again, the handle is of great importance because if you bought a cheap one you may soon realise that it’s a false economy when you come to the end of the roller. The handle won’t be removable and you have to throw out the complete product and start again. If you get one with a removable handle you can buy refills in future, which saves you a lot of money in the longer term and saves the environment too!

Our Pet Hair Remover Sticky Roller Brushes remove lint & pet hair from clothing & upholstery, and are of professional quality – used by Pet Groomers, Vets and more. Because they are manufactured to our specification they have an extremely sturdy and removable handle, with a super easy rolling action. In the very unlikely event that you need a new handle we offer a Free Replacement Handle Service, which means you’ll only ever need to replace the refills. These last for ages because they contain 7.5 metres (approx. 25 ft) of very adhesive paper, but when you do need a refill, we offer amazing multipack discounts of up to 50% off!!

Lint : The worst enemy, with a simple solution

[caption id="attachment_128" align="aligncenter" width="299" caption="Clothes Brush"]Clothes Brush[/caption]

Very often, it so happens that we have a very important meeting or interview, and that is precisely when everything starts to fall apart. The toast burns, the dog won’t let go of your trousers, you find out that there has been an emergency power cut, and so on. While many of these situations seem o be out of hand and happen very infrequently, one of these happenings can be rued rather easily. That problem is lint.

Yes, we have all experienced it. As soon as we put on our favourite shirt for that perfect impression, we notice that there is lint at certain areas, and nothing can be more irritating, particularly if it’s a dress code kind of a thing or you had planned specially for the dress to look that way. This can happen most often in case of suits. When the perfect shirt does not match due to problems of lint, you need to have a solution at hand. A lint roller is a perfect answer to this.
Simply put, a lint roller is a one-sided adhesive paper roll available with a spindle and handle. To use, all you have to do is to roll it on the areas from where you need to remove lint, and the adhesive paper will attract all the pieces, thus leaving your shirt, or any other piece of clothing, spotless. Once the paper/roll has completed its work and needs to be changed, you can replace with another roll available as a separate piece in the same spindle. Animal owners are particularly familiar with this problem, and a lint roller makes for the perfect blessing in case you have a habit of hugging your pets goodbye, or have enthusiastic pets who always have a habit of staying close to you and hopping on to your lap whenever they get the opportunity. Further, lint rollers can also be a great way to remove other small attachments like dandruff flakes, etc. from your clothes. However, one major precaution to take care of is that you use the lint roller only on dry areas, since a wet portion of clothing can damage the adhesive coating on the roller.

Caraselledirect.com is a UK portal that caters to various shopping and household needs of people, with a wide range of clothing care accessories like lint roller, clothes brush etc. for animal hair removal and other types of lint.
